"She's got a smile that it seems to me
Reminds me of childhood...memories
Where everything's fresh as a bright blue sky-hy

Now I'm there when I see her face--
She takes me away to that...special place
And if I stay to long, I'll prob'ly brake down and cry-hy
(then chorus)
Her hair reminds me of a warm, safe place where, as a child I'd hi-y-ide
And wait for the thunder, and the rain, to quietly pass me by-i-y
(then chorus)
She's got eyes of the bluest sky as if they...hold the rain
I'd hate to look into those eyes and see an ounce of pain." --'Sweet Child O'mine' by Guns n' Roses

--I just really, really like those lyrics (and that song in general).

I posted this for no particular reason. Twisted Evil jocolor albino

Right, but "smart donkey" is by no means a high impact statement.
When you say a recognized curse, you automatically get people's attention. It's like using Voldemort's name. They have no choice but to think about what you just said. pirat jocolor bom

but why do people feel the need to have "high impact statements?" people overuse them so much that the impact is greatly lessened.

That's even better, sometimes. Like with "smartass," for example: used over and over, but still draws your attention the appropriate ammount for the statement you want to make.

Cursing is a very subtle art: like poetry, in a way.
After a while, you begin to see when to curse, and what curse to use. (In case you hadn't noticed though, as a 14-year-old, I am still finding my way with this art form).

...Plus, if you try to replace curses with words you deem more appropriate, then often you come away looking rather silly, instead of innovative, which was probably what you were shooting for, but have now not achieved. Wink

You're lucky. You already know HOW to balance a checkbook. Someday, everyone (including me) is gonna need to learn how and turn to you--and you'll be like, "Bitch, y'all should'a learned YEARS ago--I did."

I can respect the hair for obvious reasons, but the pretentiousness is what really bugs me.

Yeah, what's the deal with that, because I remember in 7th grade your hair looked all straight, and then in 8th grade, sometimes you'd come to school all curly. If it's naturally curly though, just let it be that way...it probably looks good.

I know. We've talked about that before--Ms. Olsen 3rd period?

Anyway, even in last year's yearbook though, you have this long, straight hair? Is it not naturally that way?
